Rain followed by falling temperatures = black ice.

Snow, mist and ice

Snow, mist and ice

The weather managed to get above freezing today, so the roads are clear (though about a 0.4m drift on the Caldecott Road footway), with a light mist (hides the turbines from view!).

Watch out for ice when the temperature drops again this evening and overnight.

Waste collections (Week Mon 11 Dec)

Please note - there will be no waste collections today (Mon 11 December) due to the weather. All collections are moving back one day, so the food and waste collections in the parish will take place on Wednesday this week.

As promised by the Met Office, the parish woke up to snow on Sunday. A fine accompaniment to the Carol Service at the church, with the added bonus of traffic calming!

Amber weather warning for snow

Between 04:00 Sun 10th and 18:00 Sun 10th November 2017

A spell of heavy snow is likely over parts of Wales, the Midlands and parts of Northern and Eastern England on Sunday. Road, rail and air travel delays are likely, as well as stranding of vehicles and public transport cancellations. There is a good chance that some rural communities could become cut off.

Met Office issues YELLOW warning for wind on Saturday

The Met Office has issued a YELLOW wind warning for the more southern parts of the East Midlands - MEDIUM Likelihood of LOW Impacts, valid between 0400 and 2359 on Saturday 21st October.

The wind blowing from the southwest will steadily increase during Friday night and by mid to late Saturday morning we could be experiencing gusts between 40 and 50 mph.

Storm Aileen is passing through on Tuesday Night / Wednesday Morning with winds between 50-60 MPH predicted locally by the Met Office.
