Derek Lawson MBE passed away on Friday 18th August 2023. Derek served as a member of Higham Ferrers Town Council for 57 years, as a member of the East Northants District Council for 20 years, and as a member of the Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) for 40 years.

As a NCC Cllr, Chelveston parish was in Derek's ward. He helped get the village gateways on installed, as well as the first vehicle activated sign. RIP Derek.

As a mark of respect the parish flag was flown at half mast on the day of his funeral.
