A45 westbound carriageway closure for bridge replacement

A45 westbound carriageway closure for bridge replacement

Network Rail is planning to carry out works on the Higham Road Bridge between Irchester and Rushden, starting on Monday 4th February.

The westbound carriageway of the A45 will be closed from 4th February until Wednesday 16th October, with all traffic needing to use the eastbound carriageway.

At the meeting held on Monday 14th January 2019, Mrs Mandy Hill of Water Lane, Chelveston, was co-opted onto the Parish Council as our newest Councillor, following the resignation of Liz Kelly, who has moved out of the parish.

Bedford BC is applying to Stop Up part of the road from Yelden to the CRE site

Bedford Borough Council is applying to the Magistrates Court for an Order to be made on 5th February 2019 to Stop Up public vehicular rights over part of unclassified road U6 (the road from Church Lane, Yelden, to the CRE site), retaining access for pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders.

4th January - 124 years since the Parish Council's first meeting

124 years ago today (Friday 4th January 1895) the Parish Council met for the first time in the school rooms (now the Village Hall), transferring power from the Church and the Lord of the Manor's land agent to the newly elected parishioners (albeit the land agent, James Moyes Gray, got elected as the Vice-Chairman!)
