Northants CALC has been awarded a grant of £281,625 and part of the money will be used to map important community assets and services across the county.
An application was submitted to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities for funding to build capacity in parish and town councils, develop a solid evidence base, and design an administrative framework for devolution in Northamptonshire. It is a unique and ambitious project which will enable the two unitary councils and the county's 271 parish and town councils, and parish meetings, to be well prepared for any future decisions about devolution.
The project offers the Parish Council an important opportunity to undertake timely local research on the assets (land and property) and services currently owned and provided by North Northants Council.
The data gathered will provide a solid evidence base for any future decision making about devolution in the parish, facilitating a more strategic and joined-up approach.
Cllrs Clinton Hill and Peter Smith, along with the Clerk, form the Working Group, which was created in January 2022.
