Allotments

Chelveston-cum-Caldecott Parish Council operate the (new) allotments, which opened in 2010, behind Disbrowe Court, with the main entrance off High Lane. The old allotments were located on the west side of Raunds Road and closed sometime in the late 1950's.
The (new) site occupies approx. 1 acre of a 4.5 acre field and is divided into 16x "10 pole" plots, each approx. 28.7m x 7.6m, with a 1m pathway between. There is a 3m central pathway to service all the plots.
The Council has fenced the site, with the assistance of former NCC Cllr Derek Lawson who provided a £500 grant from the NCC in March 2010. Lottery funding was successfully sought by the Chelveston Allotment Association to lay in a mains water supply to the site in July 2011. A grant from the Chelveston Wind farm Community Benefit Fund Trust in 2017 improved the rabbit proof fencing.
There is a modest rental for the allotments which includes the cost of the maintenance of the area, sheds, fencing and the cost of the water supply.
The pricing structure for the season March 1st 2022 – February 28th 2023 is:
£35 (includes £10 toward the annual water costs)
For new tenants, there is a £30.00 bond, refundable on termination of the tenancy if the plot is left in good order.
